David Wain's "Wanderlust" is occasionally funny, but mostly mediocre. I would grade it as a B-. This movie is about a married couple (Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston) who are forced to abandon their New York City home when the husband's company is shut down by the FBI and they are left with no income. The husband proposes that they move down to Atlanta to live with his obnoxiously successful brother (Ken Marino) and his family. Along the way, they stop off at a Bed & Breakfast in Georgia. It turns out that this B&B is also home for a hippie commune. As you would expect, there is a lot of humor drawn from the fish-out-of-water circumstances. Members of the commune include senile founding patriarch Carvin (Alan Alda), group leader Seth (Justin Theroux), nudist would-be author Wayne (Joe Lo Truglio), and sexy, free-love advocate Eva (Malin Akerman). The couple lived at the commune for two weeks and hoped to decide where they wanted to live long term while trying to find work again. The movie ends on a somewhat satisfactory conclusion, albeit somewhat unrealistic. The acting is fine and there are some good laughs, on occasion.
